Temple Home

Temple Home is a ministry located on the grounds of Temple Baptist Church and works in collaboration with the Host Homes program sponsored by Duke University Medical Center. The Temple Home is a place for families and patients to stay while receiving medical treatment at Duke Medical Center. This ministry is offered for free as a helping hand to those in times of family crisis. Candidates are referred by the Duke University Medical Center Social Services Staff.

Temple Hospitality House

The Temple Hospitality House is part of Temple Baptist Church grounds, and provides a temporary residence, responding to local needs and beyond. Our support extends to national and international organizations like Habitat for Humanity and the CBF program, Refugee and Immigrant Ministry/Welcome House Community Network.

Urban Ministries of Durham

Temple Baptist Church contributes to supporting the food pantry at Urban Ministries of Durham and has cooked, to provide meals at Urban Ministries, a local organization that offers food, shelter and a future to our Durham neighbors in need.

Families Moving Forward

Families Moving Forward helps families in the crisis of homelessness find their way home. They provide temporary housing, case management, skills education, and connection to community resources to help parents and children thrive in stable homes. Temple is part of a coalition of churches that provides meals, tutoring, child-care, furnishings, and other skills needed to transition families to a healthy and safe home environment.

Rise Against Hunger

We participate each year in the local Durham Rise Against Hunger. This program involves packaging nourishing meals for people around the globe. Our church supports the fight to end hunger across the world. We package meals, joined by other church groups of all ages, to race to the daily target to meet our goals. This project is supported by the United Nations effort to provide nourishment, education and a safe environment to impoverished populations in more than 80 countries around the world.

Durham Crop Hunger Walk

CROP Hunger Walks are community-based walk events held in cities and towns across the United States, raising funds to support the global mission of Church World Service, a faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement, and disaster. Twenty five percent of the funds raised are returned to the host community to support local hunger fighting efforts. Temple Baptist Church supports this annual event and participants who walk are from all age groups!

Meals on Wheels

Temple congregation includes long-term volunteers for Meals on Wheels. Some of our members have volunteered for over 20 years, delivering meals and the joy of conversation to recipients. They are a blessing to our church and make a difference in the lives of many people in our community.
